Vikas P. Shah

Vikas Shah is a registered patent attorney who primarily focuses his practice in preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications in the electrical, computer, and electro-mechanical arts. Mr. Shah’s practice also includes client counseling and preparation of legal opinions related to patentability, invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom to operate.

Previously, Mr. Shah was the managing director of a hedge fund as well as the principal attorney of his own law practice.

EDUCATION

Vikas received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his Juris Doctorate from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he specialized in intellectual property law. While in law school, Vikas served as: a teaching assistant, an associate editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property, and vice-president of the South Asian Law Students Association. Vikas received Best Student Book Awards in Tort law and Advanced Legal Writing and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Writing: Transactional Drafting. He also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.


ADMITTED TO PRACTICE

Vikas is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and is registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
